Description

Christy Priutt Madyun’s collection includes objects from her father’s career as a firefighter in Hopkinsville. In 1962, Mr. Walter C. Pruitt became Hopkinsville’s first African American firefighter. Before joining the fire department, Mr. Pruitt served in the United State Navy. He was made a Kentucky Colonel in the 1990s. Ms. Madyun’s collection also includes an image of her uncle, John Virgil Morton, who helped discover a treatment for Diabetes while working at a Chicago laboratory. Mr. Morton graduated from Attucks High School and Kentucky State University. The table of contents from Metabolism Clinical and Experimental Science Journal is also featured.
